Push Factors
The push factors that made my mom want to leave China and come to Canada was because of the corruption throughout the Chinese Government. The old China was governed by a tight fisted Communist party, where there was no democracy and people had no control over their lives, so many people lived a poor life. Starting from the 1980s, China was going through a very big change where the government opened it’s doors to the western countries, so the people of China could see how other people in different countries lived. But on the other hand, people saw that there was wealth in the world, which made them long for it. Also, Canada has a better healthcare than China, so that was another thing that drew her to Canada. In Canada, people had freedom to express who they were, without being punished. Also, here people had the right to vote. My mom tried to start her own business of importing clothing from China, but that didn’t work out, so she worked as an administrative assistant and then as a legal
