Three differences between schools now and schools then are technology, resources, and rules.
Public schools in the 1900’s typically ended in the eighth grade to graduate. Students and teachers in the 1900’s actually communicated with each other. They talked to their teachers about their homework and asked for help when they needed. Students feel it is better to have different forms of technology to do their homework and to have resources at the tip of their fingers. Schools often have Smart-boards, IPads, laptops, and e-books to help students with their homework and research topics. Technology gives students ideas for their projects and assignments to help them out, which is a good and effective tool to have. Yet, technology can be distracting for students, simply because of the fact people can access social media and games. Also phones have become a distraction and students can get caught texting rather than paying attention to a lesson. But, phones help students stay in contact with one another about assignments and questions they might have. There are both negatives and positives to technology in classrooms. Technology has the power to change how one learns and studies a certain or all their subjects. Still, today we have textbooks either online or the actual hard copy. Yet, if students and teachers want an answer they can easily google it and find the answer without having to open up a book or going to the library. Seniors and juniors are capable of getting their drivers license and driving to school. Public transportation is also an option to students without their license or a car.
