Shut Down Your-Screen Week

The “shut down your screen week” proposal is a wise decision. Multiple schools rely on many technology based programs to notify students about their assignments that are due. While people heavily depend on technology to do their homework, we also need to learn how to organize ourselves without technology. Although having one week of school without technology might waste a lot of paper, it won’t last very long and we learn very important skills that we will need later in our lives. There are many reasons why schools should have “shut down your screen week.

Our school should participate in “shut down your screen week” because technology makes us dependant on search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing. Despite it being very convenient that we can search up what we do not know in a matter of milliseconds, students need to learn how to find out information without technology. Researchers say that technology is addictive and people need to learn how to stop. For example, texting and driving. This is a great thing for students because it keeps them organized and tidy. For example, teachers put grades and assign the homework on School Loop. Having technology to help students learn is helpful because it is a fast and easy way to look up information. Also students can help each other by texting if they don’t know how to do the assignment. Another reason why technology should not be stopped at school is because if the teachers are not prepared a week in advance, the students would not have a good time rushing to write all their homework and assignments down. Also it would waste paper because a lot of assignments are digital and if we didn't have computers, teachers would have to print out sheets of paper for everyone to take
