How would it feel to have a love one on the urge of dying do to obesity? Studies have shown that obesity has reached epidemic proportions globally, with at least 2.8 million people dying each year as a result of being overweight or obese. This means that 1 out of 3 people in the world are either overweight or obese. Obesity can cause many problems such as depression, death and difficulty with physical functioning. On the other hand, This problem can be solved in a variety of ways. For instance, schools, families, and the victim itself can reduce the chance of being obese. Parents have the responsibility to prevent their children from becoming overweight or obese. Its as easy as making a healthy homemade meal instead of eating fast food, and giving them the proper nutrition. In the article “Preventing Childhood Obesity: Tips for Parents and Caretakers” it states that “Offer your kids nutritious meals and snacks with an appropriate number of calories. You can help them develop healthy eating habits by making favorite dishes healthier and by reducing calorie-rich temptations.” (page 1). Therefore by simply giving the children healthier snacks and meals can greatly reduce obesity. The income of a family may also help with reducing obesity. According to the article “ Michelle Obama Announces New School Lunch Nutrition Guidelines” it states that, “The first lady also noted that the school lunch for many kids whose families are struggling financially may be the only nutritious meal that they get each day”.(page 1). School lunches are not the healthiest meal a child can eat, especially if that one meal is the only thing they posses throughout the day. A family with a higher income can help reduce obesity by being able to provide them with fruits and a couple of nutrition
