Poetic Devices In Robert Frost's The Road Not Taken

Robert Frost’s The Road Not Taken very effectively uses poetic devices in order to demonstrate the ideas that Frost wanted to communicate to the reader. He used many poetic devices to illustrate his perception, the first of which is symbolism. Frost applied symbolism in his work to add depth and meaning to his story. Second, he utilized imagery to aid us in interpreting his understanding of the message that he is trying to describe to the reader. The last major poetic device that he used in this poem is word choice. He employed word choice to establish more tone and meaning in his poem. Robert Frost’s usage of symbolism, imagery, and word choice benefits his work, and is vital in enhancing the meaning and message that he imparts to us while reading The Road Not Taken. Frost’s use of symbolism, imagery, and word choice transformed his work. The poetic devices he practiced strengthened the message of the poem, and how he communicates it. The message of the poem is that we will have to make decisions, we will have to go somewhere in our life it is our choice where we go, and the choices we make will have all the difference in our life, and perhaps if we choose not to conform, not to do just what we are supposed to then we might later realize that the choice to be individual, and unique was correct and has made all the difference. The devices that Frost used enhanced this meaning, and communicated his message effectively. The Road Not Taken is an inspiring poem, and without these poetic devices it would not be the emboldening poem that symbolism, imagery, and word choice make it to
