Reading the first few sections can allow a person to believe that the author is in the woods and the season is fall. “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,” (Frost, 1999) the “yellow wood” mentioned possibly is not referring to the season but the type of tree, to allow the reader to know the area the poem is taking place. Frost states in the poem, “In leaves no step had trodden black,” this can give the reader an idea that the season is fall because of the leaves falling from the tree, but it does not provide a clear understanding of the period or actual place. The section is the poem that states, “Because it was grassy and wanted wear,” (Frost, 1999) can give the reader an idea of what the area looks like around the roads. People sometimes use the atmosphere around them to determine the choice for the future. For instance, a college campus is groomed and a happy environment. That institution would probably have a better chance of being picked regardless of the academic rating because of its image. As situations occur, what is happening to someone makes it easier for people have a habit of choosing the route that may seem calmer or less complicated.
