The compound is harmful, but in large quantities. Thimerosal has been removed or reduced in flu shots for children under the age of 6. Tina Zecca M.D. said that “ given the research, she would still vaccinate her child because the benefits of the MMR vaccination outweigh any potential risks. ‘These childhood diseases are serious, with potentially grave neurological complications including encephalitis’”. It is pointless to not get vaccinated. Vaccination have helped get rid of polio, smallpox, tetanus, typhoid fever, yellow fever and Malaria. People will argue that it is unnecessary to get vaccinated for something that is gone. They think it is unnecessary to poke a needle in their child and have them scream and cry for a disease that no longer exists. There have been fewer than 51 cases and 10 deaths per year from tetanus were reported from 1994 to 2011. Fewer than 21 deaths yearly from Rubella and fewer than 25 deaths yearly from mumps since 1968. The rates for these diseases have dropped due to the vaccination people are getting. Now since parents are choosing to not vaccinate their children, some diseases are making a comeback. Some of the diseases making a comeback are, measles, mumps, whooping cough, and Rubella. Though we never got rid of these diseases they are making a comeback new and improved. Even though all diseases we vaccinate for are very rare it is also very easy to underestimate the importance of vaccination. This led to 3 epidemics, and at least 100 children dead after catching the disease.”( Choices, 2015). You should still have your kids vaccinated because, we are riding the world of these diseases that are killing
