Does the legal age for voting at 18 really matter? This has been an ongoing topic for a long time but especially during these last few years. Politicians go back and forth trying to figure out what is best for the United States of America. Although many argue the topic there is many reasons why sixteen year olds should be allowed vote. In our country today, the government is letting teens drive and that is basically a pathway to death for them and everybody else on the road if they misuse it. A great majority of teens start paying taxes at the age of 16 because normally you start to work around that age. According to dictionary.com the actual definition of creative is “resulting from originality of thought, expression etc.; imaginative” (“creative”). Teens have been less influenced by other people at this age rather than adults therefore they will be original when voting at a booth. Also a vice president of business development stated, “We all seem to have an instinctive sense that kids are more creative than adults. We don’t question it; we all intuitively just know it’s true and we view it as a natural state for children” (Robertson). Children along with adolescents have a different perspective of looking at things in a widespread of ways to create new outcomes that an adult could spend forever trying to figure out the meaning. By being at a natural state of looking at things is a totally different way than adults is a massive advantage because you will be making your own choice. Teens also have a totally original thought process which would come in handy if teens were able to use their special abilities to vote. Some could argue that sixteen year olds are too young and make bad decisions. For example doing drugs or driving while under the influence but studies show that it is actually twenty one year olds to thirty four year olds have the highest rate for driving under the influence at thirty one percent.
