Lowering the voting age would actually decrease these already low percentages. Younger voters don't even bother on voting as it is, nevertheless at a younger age under 18. According to a U.S. Census Bureau report, only 38%of voters in the 18 - 24 age group voted in 2012. Increasing the number of younger voters would just lower the voting percentage.
