Giving teens more and more freedom and making sure they could handle it would be great for society. On the other hand, people say 25 should be the age of responsibility, because for most that’s when the brain is fully developed. This point of view makes sense because, “... the prefrontal cortex and other regions of the brain are not fully formed until age 25” (pg. 1). However, many young adults get a job, go into the army and in some cases are already doing well. So to say they are not mature, responsible adults would be unfair. Therefore, the age of responsibility should be 18 because once you turn 18 society expects you to be a mature adult almost immediately.
Overall, young adults under 21 have shown time and time again how deserving we are of the respect and responsibilities an older adult has. When it comes to the soldiers coming from war and the studies showing how young adults can do the same things an older adult can, we have done our part to show we’re responsible. With that said, I believe certain laws should be lowered to 18 and laws that are already 18 should stay that
