Many do not understand why Autistic children need to receive different education than other children. This understanding is wrong because Autistic children learn at a different rate than the average child. Autistic children have the right to attend a proper school that will benefit them with their learning. Even if there are schools specially built for Autistic children, they are built far away from the homes of Autistic children families. These children have the right to get an proper education just like any other childe attending school. Also having public schools more Autistic-friendly, this will help the parents with Autistic children so that they would not have to send their children far to attend school. To help the parents out the IDEA (Individual with Disabilities Education Act) passed an act in 1900’s. The acted passed “was designed to protect the rights of students with disabilities by ensuring that everyone receives a free appropriate public education” (IDEA). This act was passed to insure that disabled children will be able to attend public school for free. Having this acted passed made it easier for Autistic children to be able to attend school closer to home. Autistic children being able to attend schools that are free and also close to home is great. Yet not all Autistic Children are disable they struggle with learning at a fast pace. Even with the IDEA helping Autistic children with their education in public schools. There is another source that can help Autistic Children and their parents with getting the proper education. Another society that has been created to help parents is called The National Autistic Society. National Autistic Society “Is the leading UK Charity for people on the autism spectrum (including Asperger syndrome) and their families.”(NSA). Their website has information for autistic adults, information for parents, relatives, cares, and also shows upcoming events to help the Autistic Society. According to the Autism Society “1 percent of the world population has Autism Spectrum disorder” (Facts and statics). Having others out there to help Autistic children is amazing to see.
