Personal Narrative: Why I Love Kindergarten

Decent Essays
Had you ever loved a grade so much like kindergarten, first grade, or another grade. well I did and it was kindergarten. The reason I loved kindergarten was because my teacher was so nice. She took us to alot of field trips like we went to the zoo, a mueseum, and to cocacola world it was so fun.

The mueseum was fun because we learned about inventors and to learn about a invention. all you have to do is press the button that is right there then it does the invention. In cocacola world we learned about all of the drinks and we drank all of them. In the zoo we learned about all of the animals and they even leted us touch the animals so it was a petting zoo.

so that is why I like kindergarten so much it was so

All throughout my school career, starting all the way in elementary school, school came very easy for me. I found that I rarely had to try hard at anything because it seems like I just knew it. With very little studying I was able to maintain high grades. In middle school I was put in advance math classes and it still wasn't a challenge but then in my junior year of high school things started to get difficult.…

From my personal experience, when I was in elementary school I remember my teacher would let us sit on yoga ball it always helped me concentrate and it helped me when I was really active because I could not move around, it will make me fall if I move around. I like the idea of standing desks because I prefer standing a lot but when I need to I could sit down on the tool, but I could still move my legs around and be somewhat active. So if one day you're feeling antsy you can just stand. Also I think if your tired it could help you stay awake. Mark Benden also states that sitting desk can cause kids to be obese, he also says that too much sitting is bad for your health.…

I struggled in Pre-K not because I was not engaged in the learning material but because of a language barrier. Spanish was spoken at home so I was not familiar with the English language. Therefore, I was considered an English language learner. However, I slowly started to understand simple principles such as the alphabet. This was a milestone because I would then be able to differentiate between the letters and sounds.…

I was ten years ago and I can still vividly remember sitting on an old, wooden rocking chair while the words of The Very Hungry Caterpillar trembled off my lips to a room full of second graders. I can recall the eagerness and excitement that filled their little faces as I flipped from page to page. There was an abundance of curiosity and desire to learn in that classroom that made me happy that I decided on skipping recess to read to the younger students. There was a fire that lit in my ten-year-old body that day. That was the day where I finally had an answer to all the “What do you want to be when you grow up?”…

The Kindergartner who was outside to play unsupervised got into a fight. I was meant to watch how he was doing, do a lap and ask how he was playing, while outside he was running around and said, “They are telling secretes about me and they are not telling”. After that he ran away to the playground with the swings, and slide. I walked behind him trying to understand what was going on, as he ran as soon as he told me that statement. While walking up the steps in the slide one of the supposed kids who was telling secretes was in front of him.…

“Don’t forget, the paper is due next Wednesday!” My 8th period teacher, Mrs. Oakford told to my class and I as we streamed out of the cramped classroom on a Friday. We couldn’t wait to bust out of the schools doors and claim our prize of a short freedom for surviving another busy, exhausting, and slow week of middle school. I rushed to my locker, grabbed everything I would need for the homework due Monday, threw it in my bag and headed down the hall collecting my friends to walk to town to start what I would hope would be a slow but fun weekend off The weekend went quicker than I wished and before I knew it, it was late Sunday night and I still hadn’t done my homework, I realized this and got to work.…

Needless to say that, while I was excited, I was a little scared of Kindergarten. My teacher, Mrs. Jarman, definitely had her hands full with my class, we were a rowdy bunch. I don’t remember much of kindergarten, but I remember the first day of school. We technically lived outside the school district, and mom didn’t want me to go to Marion City schools, so I was open enrolled to River Valley, and every morning, Mom would take me to school. Usually, she couldn’t pick me up, so my grandma usually did.…

I was born in San Francisco California and lived there for about nine years. During my time there, I was clueless about why I was born onto this world but to eat hot cheetos and play yu-gi-oh cards. After nine years of living in San Francisco, my parents thought moving to Millbrae would be the best way to provide their children with the best education. However, transferring to a new elementary was a rough transition for me because the kids in my new school didn’t like yu-gi-oh and hot cheetos, their lives revolved around playing sports. Everyday after school I would come home looking very depressed, so my parents decided to sign me up for sports like basketball, football, and swimming.…

I remember this section of my life very keenly, because, I had learned one of the most valuable lessons of my life. When I started kindergarten, possibly at age five, came a whole new level of stress. The first nine months we just learned the basic numbers and letters like every kindergarten student learns. Occasionally, we had tests reviewing the unit we had just previously learned, but in all fairness those tests were extremely easy.…

Twenty some years ago, in search of freedom from a communist country, a war-torn Vietnam sent my parents to America. Unable to continue their high school education, they found themselves working as laborers in a wintry Tyson Fresh Meats. Living in America, my parents were comparable to children, often rely on my brothers and me. Because I was sheltered by parents who weren’t accustomed to the foreign culture and had limited language skills, I didn’t know beyond their knowledge before I began school. As the middle child of immigrant parents, I inherited three English words: yes, no, and hello. Sweaty palms, stomach butterflies, and teary eyes – mentally preparing for the first day of Kindergarten was obnoxiously nerve-wracking.…

To the Webster dictionary the noun anomaly defines as, “something that deviates from what is standard, normal, or expected”. In the entirety of my early educational career I have fluctuated between both sides of the deviation chart. When someone like me does not fit into a standard, I unintentionally created a dilemma for many of my previous teachers, parents as well as setting a personal goal for myself. Even though I had this problem, I had a drive to always help people in so matter or way. While, attending The New York City College of Technology I have reached a point where I can understand myself as a learner to then allow me to see that I want a career which helps people in any form.…

It was there. Its presence marked my final destination. My fear suddenly started to creep over me just thinking about it like a ghost that every child was afraid of, when they turned off the lights. I began to ask my friends if it was true, and they said “Yes” and that it was due tomorrow! All of a sudden a chill ran down through me and my hands started to sweat of nervousness as I started to write down the homework.…
