I admit, it has not been easy at all! There is a lot of work involved, and I have had to put some fun activities aside so I can focus. However, Jim Watkins said, “A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence.” I am very persistent to do better than before, because I know I can. As long as I am focused and willing to try, I believe I will accomplish my goal and prove to myself that I really can learn…
“Choose a career that will always be needed,” my economics teacher said. It was 3:50 p.m and I was here, sitting in the lobby of a clinic thinking about everything and nothing at the same time. There were at least thirty-five kids here waiting their turn anxiously. My niece’s name was called and we walked into a hallway filled with medical equipment.…
Life is full of choices, some of which are not easy decisions to make. At eighteen years old, I have made many decisions in my life, carrying from what to wear in the morning to what classes I should take in high school in order to better prepare myself for college. Being the youngest of three children in my family, I am the last one to decide what career path I wish to follow. Both of my older sisters pursued careers in the field of medicine, and it was expected that I would as well. I felt great pressure from friends and family to go into the medical field and found a lack of support from them when I decided to pursue a career in elementary education.…
Arriving home after a long and monotonous day of school, I lob my backpack against my trusty chair and it collapses to its side. Conversely, I find myself wanting to do the same. What I had learned and what I had to do were a couple of the things that went through my mind as I reflected on the day. School work was something I could not have said that I found fun or interesting, however, I could also not have said that I found the work I did insignificant, right? The work in high school all seemed like preparation for college, but I was not sure if that was what I really wanted.…
The time I struggled in my life was when I started middle school. It was my seventh grade year. In my seventh grade year is when I first came out to a couple people. They were my very close friends back then. They were Desiree, Dyamond, and Katie.…
In my whole high school career a person who has influenced me drastically was my math teacher who I had freshman year, her name is Mrs. Meo. She helped me decided whether, I should take regular classes or start as a sullivan student. I decided to stick with sullivan, which was a student who took classes with extra help. I worked really hard and did not slack off. Freshman year I tested out of sullivan .My…
My public school career was one filled with corruption, incompetence, and hardships. There were teachers who would fail you for no reason or kids who would try to frame you for things simply because they didn’t like the way you dressed. With the exceptions of a few students and teachers, I experienced some of the worst sides of the Loudoun County Public School system. I find myself glad that I learned all the lessons I did from those hard times because without them I would not be the person I am today. One of my first clear memories from elementary school was my first-grade teacher.…
I am personally intrested in gettting the most out of the program as posible. With my time in highschool i activly seek out new expriences, because there is always something to be gained, even if thinhgs dont go as planed. I started out my freshman year thinking that i would play soccer my whole highschool career. That did not happen, for many different reasons i did not continue sophmore year, but from playing i gained many new friendships and i also learned how to walkaway from something that i may love but is not the best for me. This year i was a part of my schools speech and debate team, from this i learned that natural talent will get you no where and that if you really want something you have to work for it, i quallified to states and…
The first challenge i faced in Middle School was learning how to open my locker. I thought that opening your locker was going to be easy but i found out it's not in fact it was harder than i thought .For the first 2 weeks of school i had to have teachers help me open my locker and i thought i was the only person in the school who didn't know how to open her locker .…
In my middle school years, I was quiet and didn’t like to engage in school life. I had a fear that I would make mistakes and embarrass myself. Later on, I discovered that life is all about taking risks and fighting through hardship. It was then that I realise that I can achieve many thing and become the person that I truly want to be. I totally changed, I became the leader/ organizer of the school chess team and school athletic council.…
My middle school experience has been a collection of various events. During my years as a junior high student, I’ve attended three different schools. Each year, I’ve met new students and teachers, and I’ve had different surroundings. In sixth grade, I attended a school in Georgia. The elementary school and middle school were in the same building, so I was with the friends I had known for years.…
What are you good at? I’m good at working with others, helping looking at all aspects of what I’m studying, reliability, being a strong-hard headed person when need be, having a big heart for animals, and motivating others as well as myself sometimes. What challenges have you overcome? I’ve overcome depression, abuse, and my high school career slowly downfalling.…
As middle school began, hard working and social life had become a big problem for me, seeing as middle school brought forth harder work, and switching schools removed…
It was there. Its presence marked my final destination. My fear suddenly started to creep over me just thinking about it like a ghost that every child was afraid of, when they turned off the lights. I began to ask my friends if it was true, and they said “Yes” and that it was due tomorrow! All of a sudden a chill ran down through me and my hands started to sweat of nervousness as I started to write down the homework.…
When I decided on elementary education as a major, I thought of a lot of problems that I would constantly have to deal with. I went through the whole low salary, the constantly sick children, and of course the never ended standardized testing. One thing that didn’t come to mind until I was actually in a school was dealing with families. While this can be a good thing, it can also be bad, especially if you do not correctly know how to deal with the family. I know that a lot of times I will not be telling a parent what they want to hear, and depending on what type of parent that is it could turn south very quickly.…
