God made each of us in his own special way because everyone is special to him. In this paper, I will also speak about different books I have read that speak about the American Dream.
The American dream today for me is different than peoples dreams one hundred years ago. The American Dream for consists of four different things. The first thing in my American Dream is a well-paying job. I want to go to college and receive and education so that I can receive a great job. I would like to be able to have a job that I enjoy doing and get paid well. My dream job is to work somewhere in athletics that I know I will enjoy doing. The second part of my American Dream is to keep my faith with Christ. All throughout my life, my parents raised me through the Catholic Church and sent me to Catholic schools to learn more about the faith and grow closer to God. I would too like to raise my children through the Catholic church and Catholic Schools. In the 1930’s, many Americans never thought that the American Dream would be achieved because The Great Depression was occurring (Kiger). The Depression caused millions of Americans to lose their homes and jobs (Kiger). People began to doubt that the American Dream would ever happen again (Kiger). However, Franklin Roosevelt set up social programs to help people achieve jobs once again and help them reach their American Dream again (Kiger). Franklin Roosevelt was President Herbert Hoover’s successor (Kiger). In 1941, Americans started to gain their jobs back and became closer to the American Dream the once had (Kiger). Roosevelt also assisted people with homes until they could afford their own (Kiger). Roosevelt really made a difference in the 1930’s and 40’s (Kiger). He brought back the American Dream that everyone thought was gone (Kiger). The Great Depression ended in the beginning of 1940 (Kiger).
