I come from a rather large community where Latinos seem to dominate my residence; however, even though there seems to be a vast amount of Latinos such as I, it seems that work is not easy to come by. The opportunities I my community are largely different than those one can see in the movies. California is not as grand as what many outsiders seem to believe. As a student and a daughter of a low income family I have seen first hand the struggles that many have to face if they want to survive the harsh economy that I live in. In my family I will be the first to go to college, so I have to set a good example to my three younger siblings. However, school is not the only thing that is on my mind. I realized that I should not view myself as a Victim, but a survivor of such an incident, I decided that in the future, I could help those future children who were also molested and had the same thoughts as I had. Although I still face many obstacles, I am proud to say that being a poly parrot allows me to take advantage of several opportunities that can help me with my studies and my chances of getting in to college. Preparing for college is my first priority, and my high school has many programs that helps make my dreams of attending college happen. For example, I was privileged enough to take advantage of the elite prep program that helps students with their SAT exams. I was also able to take advantage of the after school tutoring program that my school had, which helped me with my struggles in my math classes. Because of these programs, going to college is a step closer to me. I know that in order to become an FBI agent and help future victims of molestation, I need to continue on with my studies, and going to college will allow me to make those dreams come true. Not only do I want to attend college to become an FBI agent, but to also have the opportunity that sisters never had and that is a sister that can help them make the process of going to college less
