I have in the past worked with a predominantly Hispanic group of employee in New York City, and the language barrier did create many conflicts. Many of the associates spoke little to no English which sometimes made working cumbersome. I found it difficult for myself to manage the staff with my limit Spanish speaking skill. The hiring manager prior to me taking the position was Hispanic with explains the high population of Spanish-speaking staff. Many of my new hires spoke English, and many were fluent in Spanish which started to break the communication gap.
