His pile to pick from wasn’t huge, so we decided on a Jackie Chan movie called The Tuxedo. He popped it in. I went to the little kitchen bar area in his room to pop some popcorn while he ran upstairs to find a bowl. As he ran he yelled down at me, “Be sure to stop it at 34 seconds if you want it to be perfect.” So I stopped it at exactly 34 seconds like he’d asked. When he came back downstairs he gave me a disappointed look and exclaimed, “It smells burnt.” I told him all I did was follow the directions he gave me.
We watched the movie on the little tv in the corner of his room. It was very funny and the popcorn was gone before the movie had hardly even started. After it finished, we talked more until we got tired. We dozed off and slept for a little while in the warm bed. It was a peaceful sleep on this perfect day.
When we woke up we decided to play some video games. Call of Duty was his game of choice. He handed me the remote, and we played. My part of the screen was all zoomy and my person was spinning all around. I couldn’t figure out the controls and was always getting lost. He kept killing me. Occasionally I would do something right and get a kill. His mom came downstairs mid-game with a bowl of freshly cut red apples for us. We sat and ate them for a bit. They were cool, crisp, and juicy.
