Improved Essays
My life changed in a blank of an eye when I laid eyes on my girlfriend Fox. Right now I’m on the phone with her best friend Elliot, “So it’s been eleven months that I’ve been dating with Fox. She’s just too marvelous to put into words. I’m absolutely head over heels in love with her. I want to ask her to marry me, how should I pop the question?” Elliot went silent, and then I hear squealing, “Boy it’s taken you long enough? Oh my god this is fantastic news! Like I’m overwhelmed with emotions, you hit me right in the honey nut feeleos.” I began to laugh, “Dimmit Elliot I’m trying to be serious! This is a very serious matter.” I take a deep breath, then continue to speak, “When should I propose and how should I conquer this without falling flat …show more content…
I calmed my nerves down and then my phone began to ring. It’s just Elliot, to my alleviation. I pick it up to hear her blast my ears out, “Oh my god Fox startled me dude.” She takes a breather, then continues, “Like I thought she had a super power and found out already!” I snicker, “Not even going to lie same. I was freaking the fuck out. So what did she want?”
Elliot replied, “Oh She had an ideal for a new skit.” I leaned back in my chair, “Really! She never ceases to amaze me, with her creativity.” She chuckles, “Yeah that’s for sure. So about that proposal, how about we meet up for lunch.” Is it that time already? “Yeah, sounds great I’ll pick you up and we can think up a strategy.” She agreed and I snatched my wallet and keys, and then headed to my car. Fox pulled into the driveway just as I stepped outside. Damn does she have timing!
Fox got out of the car and open the trunk, and then grabbed some of the groceries. “Oh babe let me help!” I said, reaching out to take the bags from her. “Thank you sweetie, much appreciated.” Fox said, handing me the bags in her hands. “No problem love. So ill help you put these away, then I’m going go out for lunch with Elliot.” I said as I set the bags on the counter and started unloading the

“Yes, very important! Oh damn, I’m going to be late picking Elliot up!” I quickly kissed her on the cheek. “I love you so very much. I promise not to keep this secret from you too long.” I declared as I ran out the door. She watched me pull out of the driveway. Why was she so work up about a secret? I’m sure she has a few she keeps from me. Just as I stopped at a red light Elliot called me. “Well hello there good sir, don’t worry, I’m almost at your place.” I said then the light turned green and I proceeded on. “Ah good I was getting worried why you were taking so long.” She asked. I snickered, “don’t worry only a few blocks to go.” She sighed, “Well hurry I’m starved.”
“Fu fu I think I heard your stomach over the phone. It sounds pissed!” I teased. “Ha ha funny. Oh I see your car.” She blurted just as I pulled in front of her place. After a few seconds she jumped in the passenger seat. “Well hello there! So where are we heading?” I asked. “Hm, let me see we could go to that little stop 4 blocks from here. You know the one with”, I cut her off. “Yeah, I know where to

Jones is not the only author who has published a novel about the child murders. Toni Cade Bambara has done the same through her posthumous novel, Those Bones Are Not My Child. Amazingly, the same paradigm of black patriarchal and matriarchal leadership during a crisis seen in Jones’ book, occurs in Bambara’s book. Yet, some may argue that my reading of the roles and perceptions of gendered black leadership in the domestic sphere during a crisis is actually troubled—not corroborated—by Bambara’s novel. Dissenters argue that some household leaders fail to adequately live up to their role.…
