According to authors of the ProCon. website, “Athletes don’t take drugs to level the playing field, they do it to gain an advantage.” Essentially, using drugs is not unintended, it is strategized and intentional (“Top”). Athletes know by taking the drugs they will have a greater chance of beating their opponent. Despite that, even though it is unethical and basically cheating, athletes still choose to take drugs to boost their performance. Some athletes simply fail to realize that winning and losing is a part of life. At some point, everyone must experience each situation. Because athletes know what they are doing is wrong, using drugs in sports will always be imbalanced. Performance-enhancing drugs are continuing to change the lives of countless athletes. Analyzing the effects of drugs more carefully would be a great way for athletes to become more attentive of performance-enhancing drugs. Making that simple decision could save their life and potentially their career.
