A young man, successful athlete; Paul puts forth a great amount of work on the field as well as in the weight room. Paul is preparing himself to play professional ball. As the team begins to develop, learn, and prepare for the new season players are faced with the temptation of using performance enhancing drugs to help them to become a better player. As the days start to pass throughout the season players have started to experiment with different performance enhancing drugs to begin getting faster, stronger and better at the game. In the world we live in performance enhancing drugs have began to appear at a rapid rate. In this ethical dilemma, the players are using performance enhancing drugs that are not able to be traced when they are required to take a drug test. The Performance enhancing drug that some players on the team are using has shown a significant result to their performance. Players continue to use this drug because it is not able to be traced therefore players are not being given consequences for using it. The coach has been aware of the situation with his team using performance enhancing drugs. Rather than making his player take consequences for their actions, the coach has turned a blind eye away from the team. Paul is worried because coach told him that things are going to change and that he may lose his position of the team if he is unable to perform better. When athletes begin to prepare to play in the game as a professional, they constantly have to remember that they could be replaced at anytime if they are unable to perform to the standard of the coach. At the level of a professional athlete pressure may push athletes toward performance enhancing drugs. As professional athletes progress in their career, they become idolized by younger generations. Athletes should make an effort to make ethical decisions because when younger generations look up to them as role models, they should be taught to do the right things throughout their lives. When youth have role models they will do the things like their role model such as making poor decisions. When athletes think of ways to resolve the dilemma of using performance enhancing drugs is by staying true to what a player can do to be successful without the use of drugs. The next way is by taking consequences for their actions if they were caught using performance enhancing drugs. When a person grows from a child into an adult, parents teach their children the difference from what is right and wrong. Parents teach their children and help them to develop into a civilized person of society. Parents try to teach their children to stay away from drugs because they can ruin lives even if it is just one time. In 1 peter 5:8 it says to be sober minded.(CITE) In the bible God explains that the body is like a temple, He teaches that nothing should be put into the body that can hurt or cause harm . Athlete may consider the ramification of not playing well without the use of performance enhancing drugs. Athletes may lose their starting position or be traded to a different team if they are not performing well. If the athlete is caught using performance enhancing drugs they may be given fines, or they may lose their job. Some of the benefits of using performance enhancing drugs include keeping your job,and playing better. An athlete would have to live in secret because they are using drugs and they have to remember they could lose their job if they get
