Rather than letting his only daughter grow up normally like other three youearolds, he has put her though rigorous teachings, such as learning spanish and learning martial arts. Because his daughter is so strongly nutured, she has very little to do with her 'nature'. She is unable to understand kids her age and certain jokes like when Gil makes it look like he has ripped off his finger.
Larry, the kid brother to Gil, Helen and Susan, is the 'favourite child' to his father, and is treated quite warmly even though it has been implied ththat the other sinlings were treated quite coldy. Dispite all this, Larry ends up being the least successful out of the four siblings, aboth financially, and as a a father, abandoning his son with th4e grandparents. These are all examples on how nurture and nature can have a different and mixed effect on people.
The interaction of generations with each other helps to mould an individual.This is shown in the film when Helen's son Garry is idstant with his own mother, but bonds quite well with his brother-in-law Tod, and relies on him for emotional support and guidance. The two find each other easy to understand each other since they are closer in age and develop a brotherly bond.
