The Ottoman Empire was exceptionally tolerant of different religious and cultural within the regions they controlled. The source states, “One reason for its longevity was its ability to function as a multinational, multireligious entity that did not force its religion...” (Osman I Founds the Ottoman Empire: 1299). The country was predominantly Islam for much of their existence. However, the Ottoman Empire was not concern of other faiths and did not push their belief on others. The main languages in the Middle East are Persian, Arabic, and Turkish. Many people in the Middle East had to learn many of the languages because certain books was only written in a certain languages. Orit writes, “Arabic is the language of the Qur'an and the Shari‘a, and consequently, many non-Arab Muslims have learned to read and write in Arabic” (Bashkin). As a result, many people could speak more than one languages due to certain things being in other languages. Northern Africa and Southwest Asia is a land of many things. For one thing, the environment is known for having little rain and affects the scarcity of fresh water. The region is also known for the Ottoman Empire and their politically control of the region. The empire influence much of the diversity in the religion and languages because the empire was tolerant during their rule. As a result Northern Africa and Southwest Asia has left an irreversible impact on the world
