Organization and unit mission, vision, and values; shared governance
Organizations have mission and value statements set to allow the community to understand the companies main focus, purpose, and how success will be measured. For the purpose of this paper, I will discuss the mission statement of Main Line Health as a whole, and how the main mission statement correlates to the nursing units. I will explain my role in meeting the departments mission and goals. Lastly, I will analyze the pro’s and con’s of the organizations nursing model, and how nursing could strength the mission and vision of the organization structure of nursing.
Organization: Mission, Vision or Philosophy
Main Line Health is a non-for-profit health care system that was founded in 1985, and today is comprised of four acute care hospitals with multiple out patient treatment centers serving several communities in southeastern Pennsylvania. All four hospitals follow the same mission and vision statement system wide. Main Line Health mission statement is as follows:
“is to provide a comprehensive range of safe, high-quality health services, complemented by related educational and research activities, that meet healthcare needs and improve the quality of life in the communities we serve” (Main Line Health, n.d., para 1).
