Obesity in the United States is a common problem seen in children, teens, and adults. The issue of being overweight in individuals is growing every year and becoming worse. Obesity is not difficult to diagnose, but extremely challenging to treat and manage. According to Maggie Fox (2016), “Overall, 38 percent of U.S. adults are obese and 17 percent of teenagers are..”(Fox, 2016). Also, research by Fox (2016) supports that “The second study found 17 percent of children and teens are obese and 5.8 percent were extremely obese”(Fox, 2016). These statistics represent how high the rate of obesity is in the U.S. There needs to be an end to this epidemic that is occurring. Children, teens and adults are all at a high risk and that is a frightening way to live life. Nobody should have to live their everyday lives in fear. Individuals need to make a change to their lifestyle and diet before they undergo medical issues that can be deadly. Obesity is when an individual has an excessive amount of fat on their body. Being obese comes with many health complications to an individual’s body. Obese individuals are at a higher risk for sicknesses and long lasting illnesses (WebMD 2016). There are many dangers that come with being obese.
