In 2010, a law was passed that required restaurants to list the calorie counts on their menus. Since the law was passed there has been much controversy about listing the calories on menus. Despite this controversy, the FDA should continue attempts to educate citizens about their calorie intake because it can lead to healthier lifestyles for those who put what they have learned into action. In the article “FDA-Required Calorie Counts”, it states that the 2010 law is problematic because it allows exceptions for many places that could benefit from showing calories. The authors critique is reasonable, because if they are attempting to make a difference, then they shouldn't exclude places that, by listing the calorie counts, could help in the
