Unit 3:

1.1: Describe what is meant by diversity and why it should be valued.

What is meant by diversity is that even if someone may be of the same species there will always be differences in their appearance, their personality, their beliefs and many other differences. The reason as to why it needs to be valued is because without any form of diversity then everything would be the same, meaning: there would only be one type of plant and one type of animal. Thus everything would look similar and boring.

The purpose of maintaining security and confidentiality at work is to help keep any documents that if leaked could have disastrous effects for the company and/or the clients of the company. Such as if a client’s CV or a client’s record were to be compromised then anyone who could have seen said client’s CV or record could use said details to commit fraudulent acts such as identity theft.

Thus with the analysis that I have just documented I can safely say that the benefits of maintaining security and confidentiality are that neither the company nor any clients are at a risk of having any of their private data being stolen or used by others in any type of crime.

2.2 Describe requirements for security and confidentiality in an organisation

If an organisation stores any info on people, it would need to meet the Data Protection Act. The info should be stored securely whether it is paper-based or electronically. The organisation should have an access to information policy. Anyone who has information stored about them has access to it on request. The information should not be given to third parties unless there are criminal implications and the courts demand it, or it is with the consent of the person themselves.
