In the Unites States there are many different laws that we’re mandated to benefit the companies’ employees, what are these mandated benefits and non-mandated incentives; and why must a company provide them? While many companies offer more than just the required benefits to their employee’s, it’s imperative that they follow the required laws that was implemented by law makers when offering these benefits to their full-time employees; or they could face very stiff penalties. Although, one may never really think about what these benefits really do for them, it’s could benefit them in so many ways to know how each of these incentives work; and what to expect when they need it the most. So, what exactly does the Unemployment Insurance do of us? “Unemployment insurance is intended to provide a basic subsistence payment to employees who are between jobs-that is, for people who have stopped working for one organization but who are assumed to be seeking employment with another organization” DeNisi & Griffin, 2014, p. 209). Another words this is offered to employees that lose their jobs through some legitimate reason, other than for other reasons to which they caused themselves; like abandoning a job or job misconduct. It’s a fund set up through pay check deductions that can be pulled from when approved for Unemployment benefits; after the loss of a job due to downsizing or being laid off. This is paid to them over a set amount of benefit weeks to which they are qualified for, as long as they continue to meet the required qualifications; and continue to search for work. In today’s world many employers have decided to do away with offering health insurance benefits to their employee’s; unless they are willing to pay a percentage or completely on the own. However, some employers have decided to add to their benefit packages, while giving their employees different options to which they can apply for; it’s called non-mandated benefits which is a special incentive offered by the organization itself. Just like in this manufacturing company, as the HR Manager my recommendation would be to offer them first of all health insurance; as well as eye care, dental coverage; and even a well-ness program to stay fit.
