Not all long-term marriages are satisfying and for those who stay in marriages for a long-term, do so for a variety of reasons. Before I begin, however, it’s important to dispel a common relationship myth in relationships are (or should be) easy. That is simply not true. The grass always looks greener in other people’s lives, because few people share the truth of the amount of work that goes into relationships (hence why 50% of marriages end in divorce). Relationships — even the best relationships in the world — require constant attention, nurturing, and work. If you can understand and accept the need for constant attention and work in your relationship, you’re headed in the right direction. My hypothesis is that, the only way for a marriage to last long is that both parties have to be willing to build a strong foundation. Which means; great communication skills, being able to compromised with each other, Choosing your arguments carefully, being adventurous, don’t hide your needs or wants, Don’t underestimate the importance of trust and honesty, and last but not least making sure each person is fully committed and attracted to each other. This research requires a lot of steps, but the main two are to understand what makes some marriages successful. And to see how committed each person is to each other. After doing some research I found out that both happily and unhappily marriages have somewhat different belief about being married.
