The high divorce rate is a significant social problem in today's American society. According to the National Center for Family and Marriage Research (NCFMR) at Bowling Green State University, 17.6 marriages per 1000 ended in divorce, which resulted in 1,145,110 divorces in 2014 (Eickmeyer, 2015). Comparing with other countries, the divorce rate in America has been ranked top in the world for several year. So, it is important to find out what social factors are associated with divorce in America.
Literature Review
Researches find that there are plenty of personal and social factors that significantly affect the possibility to divorce, which means that there could be a huge variability in the chance of divorce in different groups of people. The major factors that are associated with the risk of divorce include race, age, education level, income, childbearing and so on.
