Nancy Pelosi is the first Italian-American and Californian women to lead a major party in congress. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland and started her leadership role of a volunteer. She then moved on to public offices by being elected in California. She is the first female Democratic Leader of the House and House of representatives. Pelosi advocates for better paying jobs, college education, health care for all, and revised energy policy. Nancy Pelosi was elected by fellow Democrats to lead them in the House. Pelosi’s role as a mother and grandmother has influenced her policy’s such as the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act and child nutrition and food safety legislations. She has used her experience and perspective to be a politician, leader and legislator. One of Pelosi’s qualities as a leader is being determined and her perseverance to not give up. She has aided in passing varies legislations that benefit the country such as health care reform. She has been an advocate for battling HIV and AIDS as well as making resources available to everyone. Nancy Pelosi is a role model for other women in leadership positions. Although women face many challenges with many challenges to break through in all industries, Pelosi has spoken on the role and importance of women’s leadership. Pelosi is currently the minority leader in congress, a job description as being difficult. As a minority leader Pelosi tries to break up the majority and highlights issues that the majority faces. As a leader, she acknowledges that the majority has a lot of power and sometimes it is not being used for the greater good. Pelosi is tough and aggressive because as a leader she needs to be.
