Then she was elected to serve for the state senate in 1991, she served in the state senate for four years. In 1994 after leaving the state senate senator Stabenow ran for state governor, but unfortunately was defeated by Howard Wolpe. That didn’t stop her thought and in 1996 she achieved an even higher position and won a seat in the United State House of Representatives. This bill was passed by the senate committee of finance, and improved health care cost of women and babies. Not only that but the bill also improved the maternity care for women, and their babies. According to senator Stabenow women deserve access to the best healthcare possible from the start of their pregnancy to the end, and so that is why she proposed this bill. This bill is supported by everyone who is part of the financial committee, and they think that this bill is a great idea. As this bill made Medicaid and children 's insurance programs are responsible of providing better healthcare
