Teaching has always been a huge passion of mine, I love children and the environment teachers work in. I have always wanted to be a teacher since I was very young. I would always teach my siblings and we would pretend I was there teacher and they were my students. I would also volunteer at my local elementary schools; being in that environment and interacting with the children. That helped me make the decision that teaching is what I always wanted to do that was my vocation. I have strived to be my best at what I do, my family, volunteering, and my teachers have made this whole process easier for me. I would volunteer at an elementary school, I assisted a second grade teacher, the children were very sociable and they welcomed me, and treated me as their teacher as well. I helped them learn how to read second grade books and how to tell time. When I volunteered I did various things; I occasionally got to have lunch with them, I would play with them during recess we had a really nice bond I build a special connection with them I treasured them they meant a lot to me. I went every Wednesday and was them half of the day we did many activities that benefited both them and I. While they were learning what they had to learn in order to move on to third grade I was learning from them they thought I was helping them but they were helping me I didn’t have clear what I wanted to do with my life after high school but now that I went through that experience it has helped me make it clear that my vacation is to be a teacher. At the end of the school year it was time for me to say goodbye to my second grade kids it was the last day I was going to assist their instructor out it was a very sad moment. I will forever be grateful that I was able to have that
