Oakhill Day School: Student Analysis

One of the biggest factors that has influenced my academic success was the opportunity to attend a local private school, Oakhill Day School, from the time I was two years old until I graduated 8th grade. At Oakhill, there were never more than 15 students in my class, which allowed me to create lifelong friendships with my classmates and my teachers. I developed a strong work ethic, a love for learning, and the ability to set high standards for myself. Oakhill taught me how important it is to strive to achieve my goals and to never give up on them.
Upon entering high school, it was hard for me at first to manage my time well, because I had a busier schedule and much more homework than I had at Oakhill. I had to learn how to prioritize and work together with other students to make sure we all understood the material since teachers aren't often available one-on-one. It

My family has always encouraged me to be the best student and individual possible, as well as supporting me in every decision that I've made. My mom especially has always been there for me and makes sure I always have everything finished. Being a single parent, she has many more responsibilities than most parents, but she has always gone above and beyond and been the best mother I could ask for. My twin brother has also always been by my side, challenging me (and competing against me) to be the top student in our class. Without him, I probably wouldn't have pushed myself as hard and I wouldn't have had as much

The culmination of my parents excellent choice in schools and their motivation for academic excellence has instilled in me the drive to achieve academic excellence whenever possible. My first opportunity for a great education happened at Desert Garden Montessori or DGM. DGM is based on child directed learning where the child is given options which they choose their activity from and then the specialized materials required for that option are then given to the child for them to learn on their own with occasional guidance. With this kind of learning the children at DGM learn independence and responsibility through their education. The fact that my mother moved to the right neighborhood to where just down the street the school was located and she wanted me to have an excellent and diverse education helped me start a passion for learning at young age.…

Due to their education, my parents weren’t able to find a good job since they were only accepted in a meat factory with tough labor and long hours. Despite their tiredness and stress, my parents continued to support by allowing me to create a better future for myself joining honor, AP, and college classes in my high school years. They allowed me to explore outside of my small town and see what other cities had in store for me and I saw…
