For years I had envisioned myself being at an institution that values and initiates an educational and empowering environment as this would fit in well with my core academic strengths and ideals and for these reasons I am gladly seeking admission to Montclair State University.

During my years at Mount Olive High School, I have been involved in investing money I have earned during various jobs into a custodial brokerage account. This task that I have undertaken has allowed me to gain an intricate knowledge of the stock market and the inner workings of Wall Street which I believe has gifted me with an advantage over others who are majoring in business. More recently, as a result of the upcoming election, I have become more involved and aware of the political sphere and the ideological clashes which have arisen during one of the most consequential elections in recent history. This has caused me to begin writing opinion pieces regarding politics and culture that once finished I will submit them to my local newspaper to be published under opinion columns. In doing this I have kept myself active in intellectual and financial pursuits which have added value to me as an applicant to Montclair State University.

When I first discovered the academic prowess and the opportunities that were offered at Montclair State University, I found myself having a feeling that this was the school for me. Having taken into account all my trials and accomplishments during my years at Mount Olive High School, from being involved in varsity track & field to taking various AP and Honors classes, I believe that I am a great candidate

Our Lady of the Lake College is a Catholic institution that was created in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, who firmly believed that all of creation spoke volumes of God’s love for us. St. Francis was raised in a fairly wealthy family, and it was not until he was captured at battle for two years, that he decided to embark on the glorious journey of knowing Jesus Christ. He began preaching to word of God, and embraced others that were not of his kind. Students who attend Our Lady of the Lake College should be of the same example to others throughout their academic careers. As Franciscans, We live by five core values that are service, reverence and love for all of life, joyfulness of spirit, humility, and justice.…

Throughout the year AVID has helped me learn organizational skills enormously. I say this because at the beginning of the year I didn’t know how I was going to complete all the work I received and I didn’t really understand the time management part. So as we started getting more and more homework, I found it was important to use your planner and to do your homework the night it was assigned. Several times I fell into a whole on Thursday nights, when we had binder the next day.…

My education consisted of the perfect blend of the sciences and humanities all provided in an intimate and encouraging environment that only Defiance College can provide. Indeed, my coursework and involvement in the McMaster School for Advancing Humanity not only bestowed me with the skills to think critically about many of society’s most challenging problems, but it also instilled a cognizance that these problems cannot be addressed without a compassionate understanding of individuals’ subjective experiences. This theme—whether it be presented in the context of questions as to individual rights verses public welfare; compassion verses rule of law; or what is subjectively proper as opposed to objectively proper—is a theme that I was consistently…

I never thought a moment like this would come, for me to be wishing to transfer from the Oral Roberts University. In my Junior year of high school, I decided to apply to out of state colleges, since I did not want to be anywhere near home. In the middle of the semester, I realized, I did not enjoy the experience of being eighteen hours and forty-five minutes drive away from home or spend 4-5 hours on a plane. First and Foremost, I want to transfer from my current university because the Biomedical Engineering program has not yet been accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).Upon finding out about the accreditation status of my degree program, I decided I wanted to transfer to a school that has been accredited…

My observation took place at Gateway Community College Central City Campus as a part of my job as a student services specialist at the front desk counter. I was observing students between 9 A.M. and 12P.M. on a Monday morning, September 12, 2016. I was able to observe about 15 current and prospective students. The college is located in Central City area neighborhood on Buckeye and 12 street, and most of the students at this campus are considered to be “at-risk” students. The student population of Gateway is very diverse, but they have a lot of similarities as well.…

In the world we live in now it is very easy to overlook the importance of community. It not only gives a sense of belonging, but also forms a support group for individuals that fall on hard times. Volunteering through the Michigan State University Student Literacy Corps, demonstrated to me the need for community support in a child’s education. This organization tutors k-5 children in reading and writing, free of charge. Entering in this program I was told that the capital area is among the poorest regions in the state, and has an adult literacy rate of below 75%.…

In the text On Campus: Author Discusses the “Cheating Culture” With College Students by David Callahan, Callahan discusses what it essentially means to be ethically correct when it comes to one's integrity. In the text, the concept of cheating is discussed and often repeated in several forms in order to emphasize that there is something truly wrong with society. Callahan enforces his claim of cheating being morally wrong by simply considering how cheating is doing a disservice to our society within business, sports, and academe. In addition, David Callahan believes that with raising awareness on cheating and how it is wrong along with creating a new social contract, will ultimately rectify the issue all together. Lastly, Callahan is fixated…
