Now I have learned that writing my questions every night for 20 notes is not worth it. I needed to manage my time and AVID helped me do that. Later, I started using my planner and writing my test dates, S.O.L.’S, and much more down. Towards the end of the year I found …show more content…
If I am booked then I will be hooked on homework on Saturday. With this time management skill I am able to get my assignments turned in in a timely manner. This has helped me improve my grades now that I am not failing to turn in assignments but I am not restricted to a time restraint.
Writing-Writing has helped me become a better student because I actually consider who I am writing to and why. With the writing strategy it has helped me come up with more creative ideas than I have before. For example, with quick writes, I used this in not only AVID but English as well. Also writing has helped me learn to communicate better to others through text.
Inquiry-Inquiry has helped me with my research skills. In years before I didn’t do much research so this opened the door to asking questions and achieving the answer and it helped me learn how to come out of my comfort zone. During the year I found that the tutorial sessions helped me improve somewhat in math and I also became better myself at asking questions. Inquiry is a skill that I have learned to adapt because it’s used so much in the class room although I may not like doing it but it has …show more content…
It has shown me that when you put more than one mid together the work ethic is great. Also I’ve found that your peers really become a value to you. If it wasn’t for AVID I don’t think I would’ve been working collaboratively to achieve the goal of an “A”. Collaboration is everywhere in AVID whether it’s on T.R.F.’s or philosophical chairs.
Organization-Once said before organization has not only helped my grades but as well as, turning in assignments on time but by also helping me create goals. For example, I knew how to create a goal but not a detailed one were its something I’m actually going to try. Like, on binder checks those goals we set I tried to achieve them so overall those helped to improve my binder check grades or even my Cornell Notes. One of the examples I saw on the WICOR board was mental preparedness and I was surprised because I actually do that.
Reading-Reading has helped me become a better student because now I am not only able to read books on my reading level but above it as well. The more I read this year the more I grew with knowledge and understanding. During the year I’ve found I was more prone to making connections to different reading or passages. For example, I connected history homework I was doing to an essay I was writing in
