Our Lady of the Lake College is a Catholic institution that was created in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, who firmly believed that all of creation spoke volumes of God’s love for us. St. Francis was raised in a fairly wealthy family, and it was not until he was captured at battle for two years, that he decided to embark on the glorious journey of knowing Jesus Christ. He began preaching to word of God, and embraced others that were not of his kind. Students who attend Our Lady of the Lake College should be of the same example to others throughout their academic careers. As Franciscans, We live by five core values that are service, reverence and love for all of life, joyfulness of spirit, humility, and justice.…

Throughout the year AVID has helped me learn organizational skills enormously. I say this because at the beginning of the year I didn’t know how I was going to complete all the work I received and I didn’t really understand the time management part. So as we started getting more and more homework, I found it was important to use your planner and to do your homework the night it was assigned. Several times I fell into a whole on Thursday nights, when we had binder the next day.…

My observation took place at Gateway Community College Central City Campus as a part of my job as a student services specialist at the front desk counter. I was observing students between 9 A.M. and 12P.M. on a Monday morning, September 12, 2016. I was able to observe about 15 current and prospective students. The college is located in Central City area neighborhood on Buckeye and 12 street, and most of the students at this campus are considered to be “at-risk” students. The student population of Gateway is very diverse, but they have a lot of similarities as well.…

I would like to transfer because I am currently attending a two-year institution. Being enrolled in, and graduating from, a traditional four-year university will help me reach my goals more effectively than pursuing a two-year degree. Some goals I plan to attain are: to obtain a valuable education as a path to a fulfilling career; to further my personal development; and, moreover, to show children from different backgrounds that an education is always within their grasp. Achieving at least a four-year education is invaluable in gaining entry into a scientific career.…

I spent the fall semester of 2016 as a first-year student at Bucknell University. I found most of my classes, with the exception of one were easy, and I did not feel that I was being sufficiently challenged, academically or intellectually. Additionally, the school was too small and could not offer the opportunities and experiences, such as internships, jobs, community and volunteer work, that I desired. The area surrounding the school did not stimulate or excite me, in the way that a city would. I decided after only a semester, to withdraw from Bucknell and am at home for the spring semester.…

I left high school tired and confused. Having my whole life desired one thing and pursued one love – a love for the art and science of literature, for inkblots on bare paper, for the destruction of the pristine with the flawed beauty of the written word – I was wasted, rendered exhausted by the pressures under which I forced myself to toil for four long years. I had lost my way, stumbling off a path I once knew so well, weighed down by my wide array of interests, terrified to commit to one and be glued to it, riddled with regret, for the rest of my life. Feeling trapped, I regarded the list of schools to which I had been accepted, selected one I believed covered all bases, and, throwing up my hands, I entered undeclared.…

The Baylor University Department of Public Safety declared that doing so was prohibited on campus. As a result, any bicycles caught apprehending the law are given a second lock, issued by the Baylor DPS at the site and is only removed if the owner contacts the department.…

This year was my first year taking a real college class and it was nothing like high school. I took APUSH last year, and it was just as hard as the real college classes. However, in APUSH we had way more test, homework, quizzes, etc. I learned that in college, you only go for a couple of days and you only get a couple of tests, which means you have to score high on each one of them if you want to pass the class. I deserve at least a low A in Composition 1101 , because of my hard work, im a MOWR student and my GPA.…
