Modern Day Hunting In Richard Connell's The Most Dangerous Game

“The Most Dangerous Game,” written by Richard Connell, is said to have influenced other books and movies such as “The Hunger Games.” “The Most Dangerous Game” takes place on Ship-Trap Island. Rainsford swims to the island after falling off the ship on which he is traveling. On the island, Rainsford finds food and lodging with its sole human inhabitants, General Zaroff and his henchmen, Ivan. Zaroff, a world-famous hunter, reveals that he intends to hunt Rainsford, since he finds hunting humans most exciting. The protagonist, Rainsford, is an adventurous big-game hunter who confronts the nature of life and death for the first time in his life. Another main character is General Zaroff. Zaroff considers himself a god who can snuff out life as he pleases. General Zaroff’s character shows many moments that has irony in it, but the three that I will be explaining, to me mean something. Modern Day hunting is totally different than how people use to back in the old days. Many people are not supporters of hunting, but I am. Modern day hunting is a great opportunity for people.
