Riordan Manufacturing has decided to make a change to company’s customer management system. The company does not currently have any formal system for managing its customer information and has traditionally left this up to individual employees. This new system will require all employees to use one customer management system. Your team is now working to help Riordan implement this planned change. Employees are equally important as representatives of this company and that is why Riordan trains each employee to work as a team to maintain a cohesive alliance of associates focused on the customer’s needs and the substantial growth of the company itself. Riordan must maintain the standards originally set by this company when implementing the customer management changes to employees. Potential influences of corporate culture on employee behavior are training, leading by example and lastly incentives for employees to reach goals.

V. Identify the potential sources of resistance to change and develop strategies to manage resistance to change.

Darla: Looking through the employee satisfaction reports there is an indecisive pattern that emerges in regards to employee communications and the assessment of how confident employees are in his or her manager. Participating in an employee satisfaction survey from 2010 to 2012, employees where asked if they believed the planning process at Riordan Manufacturing was effective or not rating this answer from 1 to5, 1=Completely Disagree 5=Completely Agree. 2010's average response rated a 3.7 and 2012's average was a low 1.7. Resistance to change happens when employees are not confident in their abilities or the vision of the company they work for.
