When choosing a career path many people either go into the family business or follow a particular passion they may have. Some may want to go to college but never get around to it or personal commitments keep them from having the time to achieve a higher education. I did not want to be just another “I should of” or “I could of” story and due to past experiences decided to look into the medical field, particularly radiology, and what it had to offer. After doing some research and looking into my options, I decided to come to south college and peruse an education in radiology.
If I were to be asked why I choose radiology, I would have to say because radiology, in my opinion, is the starting point for many medical decisions and is an invaluable

I interact very well with other students and if at all possible I try to be active in things such as forming groups or answering questions other students have. My first quarter here I joined the Student Advisory Council in hopes that I could bridge any communication gaps between the administration and the students while also providing input on any items that might make a student more comfortable here on campus. I bring a lot of passion in anything I am associated with and hope that this passion, when used positively, can encourage other students to try harder and feel good about what they are accomplishing. I feel I will be a model student when it comes to clinical sites as I am a very punctual person and in a work environment am very autonomous and follow instruction well. I am a very detail oriented person and feel this will be invaluable when it comes to both the program and the clinical sites. Mostly I want to help people and be a part of something that actually makes a difference for a change not only in my life but in other people’s lives as well.
We all have choice’s, mine was to come to South College and become a radiologist. Like so many people I am the first to go to college and I will complete this program and push myself to be the best I can at what I do. I feel that I can be an exceptional example of the students South College is providing to the medical field and above all else, I want to do this for myself to say “I did it” and that I can accomplish anything I put my mind

Additionally, not many of my relatives attended college, allowing me to see the difficulties in providing for oneself and family without a college degree. When I decided I wanted to become a physician, I knew I wanted to be an osteopathic physician. Osteopathic physicians focus on the whole body when diagnosing a patient, make personal relationships with their patients, and help many underserved areas. I feel these qualities are what the medical field needs in order to progress and I want to be a part of that progression. After taking many biology and chemistry courses, I know that the body is like a machine; when one part is malfunctioning it can cause other problems to arise throughout the machine. When a patient comes in with one complaint, I think it is important to look at the body like a machine and find out exactly where the problem is stemming from and fix it.…

To be successful, to be intelligent, to be a change. Those are the three main reasons I want to attend college. In this day and age, many jobs require a higher level of education to be able to work. Those jobs that don’t require a degree, depend upon more manual labor, backbreaking work and lower wages. I would rather remain in school longer, expand my knowledge, and get a career on everything I have learned, than go straight to the work field to earn less and do more.…
