McGannon would describe my role in leading. In cheer, the captain is considered the “best one” or “in charge”. The only reason for that is having to be the one that taught everyone else the cheers, and made sure they knew them before we cheered at a game. I thought of it more of as something I could do, rather than something that was impossible to receive. Even in our groups in class, I always end up being the one to show the rest of my group how to do the task. Many people think I am bossy when it comes to me doing everything, but if I can do something and know it well enough to teach it to someone else, I will do so, just so they won’t be confused. Throughout high school, I did my hardest to be involved and stay active with my school activities. Whenever there was an open chance, I would volunteer in what I could. With cheer, we did a lot of volunteering in our school and community with younger kids. The happiness was apparent in their faces whenever they would see us. The feeling of being a role model to all the kids, just because we were cheerleaders in uniform, is unexplainable. Even when we sat next to them, they felt as if they were on top of the world. It is crazy to think that something so simple for us, made such a big impact on someone
