I was born on April 11, 1998 via c-section at Putnam County hospital. C-section was necessary for my survival, because the umbilical cord was wrapped twice around neck. My parents state I was raven black. I only made a squeak, and my parents were frightened I was dead. I was planned, and my mother wanted to name me after family, but my dad disagreed. Both of my parents settled on the name of the fictitious television character, Mckayla from Doctor Quinn: Medicine Woman. I can only compare mother to an abusive dictator. Dad was a stubborn, but loving, protector. I lived with parents at my grandmother’s house. We then lived out by lake, although i have no recollection of it. Going fishing with my family, listening to the sound of my brother and his friends laughing in the next room about something stupid, joking around with my dad, and most of all, just being with my family. I rather enjoy the feeling of sitting on the ground, a dock, whatever is available, and waiting for a fish to bite. It doesn’t matter if you’re over the hill, or a spring chicken, as they say; there is always a sense of pride when you pull the fish you caught from the water. I love the feeling I get when I release the fish back to the water. The other prospect of fishing is all the wildlife you get to see. For me, it’s namely turtles. I often take turtles home that otherwise would have no chance of survival in the wild, and raise them at home. I keep the turtle’s food and lifestyle as close to the wild as possible, that way they continue to grow when I release them back into the wild. Although i’m not technically an animal rehabilitator, I just can’t leave an injured animal to fend for itself. I have brought home many animals to help heal, and although I don’t have a very good track record with being able to save an animal, I just don’t give up.
