McDonald’s corporation has been the behemoth in the fast-food industry that has set precedent to expectations in the world of fast, casual dining. Through time the title of being the largest corporation in its industry with most domestic locations had been taken away by Subway. McDonald’s corporation saw many changes within the company, quality was slipping, management and stakeholder interests were not aligned and consumers were becoming more health conscious as the years progressed. With these issues affecting the demand for their service the competition started taking notice and had a better chance to get more of the market share, than in previous years when McDonald was the LeBron James of the fast-food industry. Multiple problems came about, internally and externally, but all with solutions that can be derived through the observance of the new consumer. …show more content…
McDonalds has 18,710 international restaurants, which is 6,912 more than the next competitor, Kentucky Fried Chicken. With that many stores you saturate the market and create a negative image. By having less restaurants you are able to manage more efficiently and effectively. The potential of having many restaurants overseas fail due to the different trends and culture shock decreases. The current restaurants will have to perform better and the ways that lowering quantity will do that is by allowing more investment opportunities within the company, instead of having to remodel 18,710 restaurants, they could do about half with the revenues of selling their assets. With the consolidation of restaurants, they could focus on creating more buzz through online channels like having an online menu, having reviews on Yelp, a blog by employees to voice concerns and creating a loyalty program that offers great deals and
