The factory example is not sufficient to understand the economy in which we live in. In present-day, production is not dependent on means of production, rather it’s dependent on the fair access to information; i.e. we live in a knowledge economy, therefore now the beneficiary class tends to control the channel via which the information flows in order to enjoy the ultimate hegemony.
The class is formed when people become aware and unites against or in favor of any cause. McKenzie Wark regards the medium of flow of knowledge as vectors, and the people who want to control the vectors and share the same interests unite and form a class.
