He and many other civil rights activists boycotted on the Alabama bus system to protest racial segregation on buses, as well as segregation as a whole. This lasted for over a year, and in the end Congress passed a law that christened racial segregation on bus lines unconstitutional making it illegal in all parts of the country. Yet another victory for King, but this one had some negative consequences as well, just like many of his other protests.
