Basically what Gladwell is saying in his argument is that of strong ties is that a pattern that shows up over and over throughout the social change in history. For example, let’s take the four college boys of the Greensboro sit-ins in this case strong ties is present because of the relationship these boys had with one another. They were friends in high school to being in same dorms in college. When Gladwell states, “the more friends you had who were critical of the regime the more likely you were to join the protest” (Gladwell, 406). Which means that social activism required some type of strong ties with one another in other for it to work. Whenever a bond is a form with someone you always going to be there because when inner core of tightly people are bound nothing really happens without strong ties. However, with weak ties it kind of different because nothing really spread without weak ties. Most people mostly have more associated friends then committed friends because weak ties have value in numbers. For example, when I go looking for a job I usually talk to someone I know that works there and give my resume to someone I know that works there they usually help me pass it on to their boss.
