Strong, courageous, dignified and ambitious are just a few words that still seem unworthy beneath the character of this young woman but are the closet to describing her bravery and everything she believes in and stands for. Malala Yousafzai is a woman of such substance in her drive to attain peace, freedom and equity of rights to all has given her not only respect and admiration from many across the globe but also unwanted and dangerous attention from the Taliban. While driven and assertive in her command and fight, the grace in which she holds herself shows not only humility but accomplishment. For the first few early years of her life Malala lived undisturbed in the Swat Valley, which was known to be a popular tourist attraction, all up until the influence of the Taliban and their efforts to seize control.
Malala attended a school founded by her father and often spoke out against the discrimination and limitations against women’s rights to education. In September 2008 Malala spoke out against the Taliban, titling her speech “How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education?” Again Malala moved to ignite change by blogging in 2009 for the BBC, detailing the daily threats from the Taliban to her education. This was all done under a false name in order to protect her identity which was revealed in December of the same year.
After her identity was revealed Malala continued to fight for peace and the freedom to exercise everyone’s human rights but this did not come without complications. On the 9th of October 2012, Malala was shot by a gunman. The bullet hit the left side of Malala’s head and lodged in her shoulder. Malala fought through and survived the ordeal only to become more determined to prove her resistance, love and determinations for what she was standing
