As a young girl Malala Yousafzai was fighting for justice by defying the Taliban’s commands. This took great courage and determination. "As a child, she became an advocate for girls' education, which resulted in the Taliban issuing a death threat against her. On October 9, 2012, a gunman shot Malala when she was traveling home from school. She survived, and has continued to speak out on the importance of education" (Source B). Malala was shot in the head and almost killed. It would be easy for her to not stand up for herself, women, and education. Instead she fights and continues to fight through it all, doing the right thing even though it is so much harder. “Yousafzai attended a school that her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, had founded. After the Taliban began attacking girls' schools in Swat, Malala gave a speech in Peshawar, Pakistan, in September 2008. The title of her talk was, "How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education?" (Source B). Malala knew the Taliban were after her and still decided to stand up for her rights. She gave a public speech and wouldn't stand for it any longer. She knew she was going to have do whatever it takes because it is the right thing to do. Many people in this situation would just stop and take the easy way out, but Malala Yousafzai decided someone needs to do it. Malala Yousafzai is a great figure in the world today and also one of the peak examples of people who do the right thing, not the easy thing.
