The author supports his or her argument by comparing MagnaSoles shoe inserts to other brands of shoe inserts. The author’s purpose is to convince consumers to buy MagnaSoles shoe inserts because they soothe and heal the foot at the same time. The author appeals to consumers who buy shoe inserts by the use of diction, hyperboles, and irony. He or she gives uses these methods to show that advertisers exaggerated and controlling. The author’s diction expresses how advertisements are often exaggerated. The authors tone and use of word choice displays his or her making fun of advertisements. The author makes up words to imitate the advertisements that try to use large and scientific sounding words to improve their product. The use of the made up words “kilofrankels”, “pain-nuclei”, and “comfortrons” make a link to words typically used in advertisements. It is typical for advertisers to use large words to make their products seem fascinating. The soles are not actually going to rejuvenate your foot. This quote satirizes how products are marketed to consumers. The author exaggerates when saying, “If the frequency of one’s foot is out of alignment with the Earth, the entire body will suffer.” We obviously know that the whole body is not going to suffer just because of a foot being out of alignment.
