During the early 1950s, military and government officials never predicted the potential popularity of these substances due to a small-scale of information and knowledge about the hallucinogen. Also, not many people knew how to make these drugs in the early 1950s and how it would spread rapidly around the world. Honestly, I do not have any personal feelings or experience with psychedelic drugs. I feel psychedelic drugs can be dangerous even though some drugs (i.e. LSD, mescaline, and DMT) are used for therapeutic practices. College students eating mushrooms or doing other drugs at certain events, to me, is not acceptable. They are using drugs for the wrong purpose—to have fun. However, if it is healing or for medical purposes then I would agree that it can help many individuals but this should only be to a certain extent. Individuals should not feel they need to be dependent on drugs at all times. Overall, my opinion on use of drugs have not changed nor did it influence my opinions.
