In the brilliant film, Love and Basketball directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood she combines a sport genre with a drama. The movie follows two people that share a very similar strong passion for basketball. It begins when they’re kids after a girl who is played by co-lead actor “Sanaa Lathan” moves into the neighborhood of a young star played by co-lead actor “Omar Epps”. Their mutual passion for basketball is evident from the start. Not only is their shared passion obvious, but the audience is also able to notice that they have the “puppy love” in the very beginning as well. As they age they both aspire to take their talents to the next level. It just so happens that they find love while doing so. The plot for this film is a significant one …show more content…
He’s a young prodigy, following in his father’s footsteps and even showing talent to surpass his father’s accolades and abilities. Whereas things aren’t as simple for Monica Wright, who is played by co-lead actor “Sanaa Lathan”. She struggles with letting her emotions get the best of her. The third “quarter” is when the young love truly begins, they both commit to the same college after Monica finally receives a scholarship offer to play for USC. After facing difficult things that occur and attempting to balance both sports, and a full committed relationship, the two go their separate ways being that they are unable to. The fourth and final “quarter” shows each of their aspects. Monica Wright is out of college and playing ball overseas for the IWBA. This was before the WNBA was established and as a kid Monica said she’d be the first woman to play in the NBA. Her dream didn’t quite come true. As the film focuses in on Quincy, he’s now playing in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers. After Quincy tears his ACL Monica goes to visit him in the hospital. Once she visits him she’s met with a painful blow only to find out Quincy is engaged. With obvious feelings that still linger between the two, Monica attempts to
